You need both Intermediate groups cleared and ICITSS done to start the two-year Practical Training (articleship) — CA Final course registration itself can happen any time after that.
You don't have to finish your full two years of articleship before sitting Final: ICAI lets you appear during the last 6 months of training, if it's due to wrap up within 6 months of the exam month. Before the exam form is accepted, three more boxes need ticking: all 4 Self-Paced Online Modules passed, Advanced ICITSS (AICITSS) completed, and articleship within that 6-month window.
Register via ICAI's Self Service Portal (SSP) — the only official channel. One-time Final course registration is ₹22,000 (₹1,100 for overseas students; a 75% concession applies for J&K, Ladakh, Andaman & Nicobar, and North-Eastern-state candidates), separate from the exam form filed each attempt.
CA Final currently runs twice a year — May and November. The exam-form window typically closes about 3-4 months before the exam, with a short late-fee window right after. Admit cards are issued only via the SSP, usually 2-3 weeks before the exam — never posted, and required as a hard copy at the centre.
Final results are usually declared first among the three levels — roughly 5 weeks after the exam ends. See the Results hub for the direct link and pass criteria.
