Eligibility, registration & results

Eligibility

Foundation route: pass CA Foundation and Class 12, then register through the SSP.

Direct entry: Commerce graduates/postgraduates with 55%+ marks, or graduates/postgraduates in any other stream with 60%+, skip Foundation entirely. ICSI/ICMAI Intermediate-qualified candidates also qualify directly. Final-year students can register provisionally but must submit their final marksheet within 6 months of the result.

ICITSS (Orientation + IT Training) is not a prerequisite for the exam under either route — it's required after clearing both groups, before Practical Training starts. (Older guides describing it as a pre-Intermediate requirement are describing the pre-2023 scheme.)

Registration & Admit Card

Register via ICAI's Self Service Portal (SSP) — the only official channel — at least 8 months before your target exam month (e.g. by 1 September for a May exam). You register for both groups together; ICAI doesn't offer single-group registration, though you can choose to attempt just one.

Registration for both groups is ₹18,000, valid for 5 years and revalidatable once for another 5 (₹400 fee) — separate from the exam-form fee paid per attempt. Admit cards are issued only via the SSP, usually a couple of weeks before the exam.

Results

Intermediate results typically follow 6 weeks after the exam, on ICAI's official result portal — with the 60% single-paper exemption carried forward for 3 attempts if you don't clear a group outright. See the Results hub for the direct link.
